Hi Ritika,

Why is it difficult to ask them how they found you? If you are uncomfortable with asking, practice or have a sheet of questions that you can use to ask it during the conversation. Things like "who can we thank for your referral?" or just "we'd love to know how you found our company - it helps us with our marketing efforts". It's not rude to ask when you are thanking them. I usually have a full conversation first and at the end, depending on how the conversation tone went, I casually ask "so just for my knowledge, how did you hear about me?" Most will gladly answer the question.

Hey Debra, this was a great post. But i think sometime it becomes a bit difficult to ask customers directly from where they have heard about us. It is easy doing online but when we get a call from the customer then it doesn't luk gud. So, do you have any suggestion for it, how can we still analyse our mktg activity without asking directly to the customer.Or if u suggest we should include any kinda form so can you show me any example of it.

thanks.

Great post Debra! I run an internet marketing website myself, so I can say that in my opinion the part about "building a list" is essential. It allows you to stay in touch with potential clients, and can be used over time to develop a relationship as well.

Overall a fantastic post. I'm sure quite a few people will have learned pieces of worthwhile information from reading this. I know I did.
