Hi I want to add comments to my business page in facebook via my website – but they go to my personal page – how do I change this

Hi Monica,

A page can add another Page to its favorites by doing the following:

1. Go to the page you wish to like
2. Click on “Add to my page’s favorites” (underneath the page profile image)
3. When the popup box displays, select your business page from the drop down menu of pages you administer
4. Save

Hi Debra,

I was given the link to your article by a friend and it has helped my confusion in lots of ways! However one remaining issue is how my page can make friends with or like another page??!! I tried to do this and it appears that my Monica Watts profile likes the other page not my Lawson’s Men’s Hair page.

I want to keep my personal account and my business page totally separate but ‘m not really getting the hang of it!

Any pointers/tips would be appreciated.

Unfortunately I don’t believe so at this time. There’s a discussion thread on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/friends/?ref=tn#/topic.php?topic=8952&post=50674&uid=10381469571#post50674 that several people have asked this same questions. My answer for most is to create the Fanpage and send a status to all your friends to please become a fan. Since you don’t need to approve fans, the process is rather easy. I would hope that Facebook would make this available as they do discourage businesses from creating personal profiles.

Is there a way to convert an Individual profile to a Page ? I have a business that was initially started on a profile and has yet not come under FB’s scanner. It’s got about a thousand friends added to it, so i don’t want to go through the process of adding fans again. Any recourse ?

Hi Mike,

I believe that is done on purpose. Facebook distinguishes between a person and an entity/business/persona. A Page represents the entity and the Profile represents a person. Only people can make comments on a Facebook page.

Where this concept breaks down is as an admin, I can’t comment on any page for which I am an admin from my personal profile. Any comment or post to the page comes from the page itself, not me personally.

I would assume in the future this will change, as will a few other areas of Pages that is counterintuitive (like authorizing someone else to own the page other than the original creator).

If someone knows how to do this, let me know as I don’t beleive it is possible.

There is still one FaceBook feature I can not figure out.

Whenever I post a comment to another person’s page, it always shows as my Personal Profile (Michael Spitzer) making the comment, I can not make it show my comments as my Business Page entity (Valve Amp USA)

Unfortunately right now there is no way to comment on the page as a fan and not the admin if you are the admin. There’s a pretty lengthy discussion on Facebook about this topic:
